Notice in the moment you become determined to achieve anything new – a job, an improved relationship, a healthier and more fit body, even an improved golf game – notice how it was the mind state that got things kick started. It was mind before body, thought before action, vision preceding effort. This whole idea of taking lots of action from an unfocused, scattered, or pessimistic mind quickly becomes counterproductive. We must instead teach ourselves to manage the mind first. Bottom line, we can’t produce much of value (action) without a mind that has cooperated and bought in from the start.
